Frequently asked questions

Do you take insurance?


We do not accept insurance, but we are happy to provide super bills to submit to your out of network insurance. Music therapy is rarely covered by health insurance policies. Reduced fees may be available on a case by case basis.




Does North Star Therapy provide professional counseling?


North Star Therapy does not currently provide licensed professional counseling. Our music therapists are highly specialized in addressing mental health in a music therapy setting, and may be sufficient to address your mental health concerns. However, if we assess that your needs exceed our scope of practice, we will refer you to a counselor or other provider in our area.




I love the idea of music therapy, but cost is an issue. What options do you have?


If the cost of therapy is a concern, call us to ask about reduced fee options. You may also look into YES Waiver services for your child, which provides wraparound mental health care services (including music therapy) at no cost to your family.
