Taylor Cockrum, MT-BC
Virtual Music Therapist
Throughout my life, music has been a source of joy and connection. I have spent most of my life singing in ensembles, taking lessons, or participating in community-based ensembles or musical theater productions. I value both the physical act of making music and singing as well as the relationships built with friends and mentors who find the same joy and safety in music as I have.
Music therapy allows me to share these positive musical experiences with individuals in an effort to create, connect, and build upon others’ strengths and interests while also addressing their personal goals for growth. I believe music is a powerful tool for positive self-expression, increasing self-confidence, promoting connection with others, as well as regulating emotions.
In sessions, I encourage clients to explore music through songwriting, sharing and discussion, listening and relaxation, music games, as well as learning musical skills. I prioritize client needs and interests to create both an engaging and beneficial environment for each client to feel comfortable and reach their goals.
