WHY I'M A MUSIC THERAPIST:
I kind of jumped into music therapy, feet first. I didn't know much about it before college, but I've always loved music. So, when a high school teacher mentioned it to me my senior year, I thought "Where do I sign up? Music + Helping Others = A Good Fit for Me". But, what makes music therapy so amazing for me, is the people I get to watch have aha moments, really good cries, laughs and moments where they feel seen. Those are the moments that make the challenging days so worth it.
WHAT I'M REALLY GOOD AT:
Singing. And making people laugh. And coloring. And helping people explore their identity.
MUSIC I LIKE:
I grew up around A LOT of gospel music. It is still my favorite genre to this day. But outside of that genre, I LOVE Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, PJ Morton, Rihanna and Jazmine Sullivan.
ME, AS A PERSON:
Hi, I'm an introvert! I love time to myself to recharge. My favorite ways to do so? Coloring in adult coloring books, being an extremely unofficial movie critic, watching funny YouTube videos, and thinking of weird and fun introspective questions to ask myself and my friends. When I'm out in the world, I love catching up with friends, roller-coasters, seeing live music and eating really good food.
Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from SMU. I interned at Austin State Hospital in Austin, TX.
